Click below to hear the thoughts of Jim Gulkin, CEO and founder of Siam Canadian Group, on UCN’s 2021 shrimp market outlook webinar on May 26 (see video below).
During the webinar, Gulkin agreed with Sunnyvale’s CEO, Jeff Sedacca, and supported the idea that sh and seafood retail sales in the US will continue to grow even though foodservice is now starting to open up thanks to good COVID-19 vaccination rates.
“Retails is not going to drop off just because of that. People have gotten used to buying seafood in retail, so, even though it is going to drop off a little, consumption is going to be really large over the next several months,” he said.
Additionally, Gulkin also discussed the supply and shipping problems in India, which is currently suffering what he described as “a catastrophe in terms of its COVID situation, a situation in which the end of the tunnel does not seem to be seen.”
